I feel like those soldiers

After the battle, safe at home
They miss the days gone by with their comrades

They have a hollow place that wonders why they were spared

They have a bitter sweet waiting to join them, as life plods on


There’s a Joy waiting just beyond this mourning


But for now I’ll wait at this table, across from all of these
And Bless God for the times I’ve shared

…today, I will muse, and miss and mourn.
And look to God, who holds my tomorrow, just around the bend
