Longing for Easter

Ducks looking for food…

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.

Isaiah 30:18

Some hope for… God’s grace… but feel unworthy. One man I knew, said he’d fix himself up, then start going to church… you know, he’d become a better person and then somehow be worthy…

Here in the old testament is a scripture to pay attention to.

Ephesians 2:8 says that we are not even worthy of wanting to be at peace with God! That even that longing for God is from HIM…

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God”

Ephesians 2:8

Here’s what I’m trying to draw your attention to. God longs to be gracious, to have compassion on you! This scripture was before the meaning of Easter ever occurred, it was a foreshadowing of what was to come in the coming of Jesus Christ! Into our earthly context!

Jesus came and paid for our sins! That’s his death, Good Friday! On Sunday we celebrate He is Risen!

What about you?

It’s there in that verse up there!

If you long for Him! He gave you that longing! Go get him!

Still doubt me? Look at this that Jesus said, and is recorded in John 6:44

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.”

John 6:44

So what’s with the ducks? It says in Matthew 6 that he feeds the birds, and clothes the lilies of the field! They’re longing for food… they look pretty fat LOL

They sure get fed by so many who are drawn to throw food down for them!

This Easter, ask yourself, do you long for God? His grace, His peace.

Those of us that are older, whose lives are more behind us than before us… we long for peace with God, and it’s been waiting all along…

Pray right now, “Oh God, who are you? Can I have and be at peace with you?” Amen

And he says to you, come and see!

When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”

“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.

John 1:37-39

The gospel of John… go take a look, “…come and see.”
