Circle of Trust – Shared Touchstones
Inspired by the work of Parker Palmer and the Circle of Trust approach, the following touchstones help create a space that is honest, respectful, and safe for reflection:
Speak your truth in ways that respect other people’s truth.
Use “I” language and allow each person’s experience to stand without correction or debate.
Practice deep listening.
Listen with openness rather than preparing a response. Presence matters more than answers.
No fixing, saving, advising, or setting each other straight.
We are here to witness and support, not to manage or solve one another.
Honor confidentiality.
Stories shared in trust remain protected. Insights may travel; identities and personal details stay within the circle.
Turn to wonder instead of judgment.
When something feels difficult or unfamiliar, approach it with curiosity rather than assumption.
Welcome silence.
Moments of quiet are part of the process and allow space for reflection.
Respect personal boundaries and self-care.
Anyone may pass, step back, or simply listen. Participation is invitational.
May this space be one where people feel free to be present, heard, and held with grace.
