A Precious Friend

One thing that stands out about me is that I am a Talker.

Arthur is a listener.

I found out one day, after knowing one another for quite sometime, is that he and I were mutually inspired.

He admired my ability to speak, and I admired his ability to listen.

He’d many a time been criticized for, “sitting there this whole time and not saying a word!”

I’ve been criticized many a time for, never shutting up, or for talking about that in public.

I resolved to become a better listener by watching him, out of the corner of my eye while I blah blah blah’d LOL and he, I think, resolved to speak up more.

I don’t know if I like the idea of having best friends, because it evokes the idea of exclusion.

He is, nonetheless, a very precious gift to me. One that came along, just in time.

I look up to him, and I know he looks up to me. The answer to this apparent conundrum is found in The bible,

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,” Philippians 2:3 NIV
