About “A Wife”

As my first marriage was slipping out of my hands! 🤔 No, it’s more like this picture: My first wife and I, you can see us climbing straight up a rocky cliff side. The kind you needed Rope, crampons, and carabiners to climb! There she is directly above me, and out comes the knife! She cuts the Rope below her, and sets me free!

I told my son-in-law that image… he’s a psychologist. He said it was very telling about something, I forget now… I’ll have to ask ‘em.

But the inspiration for my Wife poem was me examining where I’d gone wrong… I was way off! She is eventually told me that she was going to find a man who could give her all the things I could not. But it really was what I would not give her. Because I’ve never been interested in THINGS nor the pursuit of money to get those things. We were a mismatch. It was very frustrating for her, I know. But it wasn’t like I didn’t tell her from the beginning, what my calling in life was.
