It’s Time to Begin

THE B-TEAM

Everybody has to begin somewhere!

Everybody knows about the A-Team.

They’re the experienced ones. The talented ones. The people who know what they’re doing.

Think Vancouver Canucks!

But what about the Abbotsford Canucks?

They’re not the NHL team.

They’re a development team.

A place where players learn, practise, make mistakes, receive encouragement, and grow.

Nobody expects them to begin at the NHL level.

So why do we sometimes expect that in church?

We have wonderful musicians, singers, teachers, and leaders.

But somewhere along the way, have we unintentionally raised the bar so high that people are afraid to begin?

And while we’re waiting for qualified volunteers, the same faithful people keep carrying the load.

What if we approached ministry differently?

Introducing THE B-TEAM!

B is for BEGINNING.

B is for BELONGING.

B is for BECOMING.

B is for BUILDING ONE ANOTHER UP.

The B-Team isn’t a second-class ministry.

It’s where ministry begins!

And what better place to begin than in our home groups?

A safe place to try.

A safe place to learn.

A safe place to make mistakes.

A safe place to discover gifts we didn’t even know we had.

Paul told Timothy:

“Fan into flame the gift of God.” — 2 Timothy 1:6

You can’t fan a flame you’re afraid to light.

And you don’t develop gifts by sitting on the sidelines.

So here’s our invitation:

You don’t have to be good at something to begin.

You have to begin to become good at something.

Welcome to the B-Team!

Where belonging comes before performance, and everybody has something to contribute.
