Don’t be surprised

On a journey…

That seagull there, she’s gonna be just fine.

Built for land, sea and air.

“I’m worried !” I confessed! “Write it down,” he said. So I ran to here, but my pages always need a picture…

“What picture?” I ask. “Look up!” I looked up from the wheel, and saw and snapped! This is where I sit each morning.

It’s a pretty good picture, but I took that picture, and something got lost between the moment I clicked and the image that froze there in time. When I looked up after he told me, “that’s her!”

But like rolling sea billows, it’s not lost! Those of us watching from the little boats bobbing like corks, have to be patient with the intermittent point of view. The confidence I saw a moment ago, has been replaced with… it’s in her gaze; it isn’t worry, it’s watchfulness. It’s poise. Gathering intel…

As I pondered this poetic image, it was almost immediate, but in order of appearance the confidence, the beauty that was blended in like harmony with function! Functional art is an awkward expression of it.

My worry! And he told me! Look closely! I’m looking after her!

Health and function!

Hey! I keep pausing to “save the page” and it takes me back to the top! And I just noticed! What a smart bird! It’s using the sidewalk! Heading for a marked cross walk!

Back again from the top! Didn’t I say it?

Land Sea Air

Each has its function and advantages!

Nonchalant! She’s searching for something in particular, but I don’t know what, she’s not wearing a sign!

What other people think of me is none of my business.”

This quote, when Googled for source, is indeterminate. Many are given credit for it. So, for now it stands alone!

Another one like it,

What other people say about you tells me more about them, and nothing about YOU.

I’m worried. About my niece. About this world’s youth. I’m on this side of the teeter-totter… thanks.
