Mission: Stay OFF Highway 1!

This is our back-road route from Ladner through South Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Yarrow and finally up the Chilliwack River Valley to Chilliwack Lake.

The important thing for the copilot isn’t just knowing where we are.

Always know what the NEXT turn is.

🏠 START — HOME

NEXT: Ladner Trunk Road

Head toward Highway 17A.

NEXT: 17A

LEFT — HIGHWAY 17A

Follow 17A toward Highway 99.

NEXT: Hwy 99 SOUTH

RIGHT — RAMP TO HIGHWAY 99 SOUTH

We are heading toward the US border — but we aren’t going that far!

⚠️ WATCH FOR: 16 AVENUE

LEFT — 16 AVENUE EAST

Now the back-road journey really begins.

Stay on 16 Avenue heading east through South Surrey and Langley.

NEXT BIG TURN: 264 STREET / HIGHWAY 13

RIGHT — 264 STREET / HIGHWAY 13 SOUTH

Head toward the Aldergrove border crossing.

⚠️ We are NOT going to the border.

NEXT: 8 AVENUE

LEFT — 8 AVENUE EAST

Now we begin our long run east across the Fraser Valley.

8 Avenue eventually becomes:

HUNTINGTON ROAD

No turn required — just keep going east.

Huntington eventually becomes:

VYE ROAD

Again, keep going.

NEXT TURN: POWERHOUSE ROAD

We’re getting into the Chilliwack/Yarrow part of the journey now.

Stay on it.

Follow Yarrow Central through Yarrow.

The road continues and becomes:

VEDDER MOUNTAIN ROAD

No turn required.

Stay on Vedder Mountain Road.

⚠️ COPILOT: Our next major turn is CHILLIWACK LAKE ROAD.

WE MADE IT THROUGH THE BACK ROADS!

Now the navigation gets very easy.

Stay on Chilliwack Lake Road.

BC Parks says it is approximately 40 km from Vedder Crossing to Chilliwack Lake.

We follow the Chilliwack River farther and farther into the mountains.

⚠️ IMPORTANT

There is no cell-phone reception past the On the Way store on Chilliwack Lake Road.

So from here on, Ashton and this page become more useful than the phone!

Keep following Chilliwack Lake Road.
