God Bless you, truly, if you try to take in ANY of this in a single breath, much less this great work by Elliot. A pastor once told me – Earl F. Palmer – in a sermon, that this was about T S Elliot’s coming to terms with God… his journey into his relationship with God.

I have read, and re-read this poem… and one day, as I read it over and over again I got to that final line…

  • …and burst into tears, not knowing nor connecting to WHY…

My son-in-law (I have 5 kids and 7 grandchildren) Andre, is a psychologist… and he told me years ago… never ask “WHY” but instead, say, “Tell me more about that….” So, I often ask, “Tell me more about this…”

A Scripture to meditate upon came to me. I’m used to all of this, chances are this may be your first time encounter with a person like me. Get used to it, its no big deal, I am me… and I’m not “self thrilled” but I am obedient.

I saw your tears when I completed the word God had for us.

As Scripture comes to me its a fulfillment of a promise Jesus gave his disciples while he was still yet in bodily form in this “dusty space and time” we call earth and to me, personally, way back when I was in grade 10.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
