Mindy’s Key

I saved a key from a precious place, I never intended to go there again, but I knew that I could rest easy.

Today, as I was searching through all my stashed treasures, I realized that the house had been destroyed and the key was no longer the key to anything, anywhere, anytime…

A silent, faceless and formless sadness follows me and drags its legs… and I am waiting for that sadness to leave.

Soon that sadness will join the dim sadness of the distant light where my mother and father were sleeping. My grandmother and grandfather, and all that is no more.

And the yawns of the future open to swallow all, until even I am but a memory, and there is no key to reach me.
