…wondered about these two strangers.
As we sat, greeting our new year – we sat quietly, waiting in amongst the trees on the little hillside beside the pier at Wellington Point Park.
Pigeons came to see if we had any seeds to fling their way, a whole flock of them, including the white dove…

…they stayed at a distance until we’d settled on our little hillside there in the sun… at Wellington Point Park.
Soon they were all around us acting like pigeons do, nonchalant… pecking now and then at the ground so as to disguise while also revealing their reason for being proximal. It made me grin… they were sent over to check us out, by the smugglers… and their _____ was sent back to mission central’s face recognition software… compared against their data base of known threats.
Truly, however, as a man in my 60’s I’ve learned that feeding wild life isn’t so wise and kind as one might think.
I’d learned when first arriving here on the west coast, about feed the sea gulls… and especially in particular, don’t feed them by flinging crusts of bread into the air directly over one’s head… because what goes in must come out… and ah… anyways you’re soon “getting lucky” (it’s been told to me that when a bird shits on you, that it’s lucky… and to go buy a lottery ticket asap) yeah, I soon had the goop on me. So now I feed the birds by flinging it directly over the heads of unsuspecting bystanders…
…don’t feed birds, animals, wild life… and except ducks. I feed ducks and turtles at the local city hall duck pond. With universally approved fish and turtle fodder…
But these pigeons?
We came here to sit amongst the kelp, and be part of nature.
Their hopeful usery once repelled… the pigeons soon depart… for what I see is their shady spot over there.
