Back in high school my Art Teacher, Mr Marchinko, gave us an assignment. It was to draw using pencil(s) using an existing photo from a magazine, and a grid.
I chose a bicycle sprocket.
Even now as I think about it, over 40 years later, it’s an impossible task. And yet, square by square I got it done.
He told us to not spend much time in any one square of the grid and to simply draw what was in each square. By moving from square to square you ensure a more even, balanced piece of work.
Once again. It is an example of what results when one works steadily, and here as I tell about it the other detail comes to mind. My teacher.
