The Front Porch

Tangent to sitting on the front porch of a house in hot summer heat for hours waiting for my four kids to be picked up by their mother after a visit. I felt unfairly treated. I objected. I phoned her that night to tell her that it couldn’t happen again. She literally played out her favorite power move. She struck back 10x harder. Later that week I was arrested in the middle of the night and charged with threatening to kill her and the children. While that charge was being dealt with through the courts, she was entered into protective custody, and on the province’s dime, moved to the BC interior.
