Coming out into the clearing, at the base of a long descent through dark forested uplands, I saw all around and ahead of me for miles, the smouldering fires of the encampment
The mood was somber, and there in the dimming twilight, a reddening sky was nestling in for the night as gently the sun was setting upon them all
As my eye continued it’s roaming I saw it, that well worn path to the river’s edge, the raging River itself then, rising up on the horizon, there they were! The walls of Jericho!
Those walls! They blocked out the sun! Yet it’s radiant beams shot into the sky! Refusing to yield!
I felt the tired, sullen, resigned eyes looking up towards me as I made my way towards those walls. One of them spoke to me,
“Pick a spot, they’ll shift around and make room for you here, no worries.”
I shuddered.
“WHY ARE YOU ALL JUST LAYING HERE?!?” I shouted, and as the echo reverberated up and down that valley, all of it shattered. There in the mist all around me lay the bones of those who did not, would not cross over.
Looking up Just beyond the River, to see the King, with all of his soldiers and he astride mighty horses of war, I saw one or two reared up as if to charge toward those wall but were quickly restrained by their rider’s masterful dominance!
The King bid me to plunge into the waters, “Come join us my friend! We’ve been awaiting you!”
I guess I have more to tell you, but I’ve gotta go heed that call! I’m headed for the other side! I’ve got to cast aside all of these things I’ll no longer need! See you there?!?
