I pray that you can read Genesis to Deuteronomy with a mind to experience Him, our Holy God, but our loving God, who came looking for us
But it’s more personal! God himself came looking for you ! He sought you ! Indeed he never left you… he waited until you were spent… like a buck that he relentlessly hunted! To switch to a fishing image, you have been on the end of his line – hooked – and has he reeled you in – is reeling you in – the kingdom is here and not yet.
Deuteronomy 32:8-9
When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance,
when he divided all mankind,
he set up boundaries for the peoples
according to the number of the sons of Israel.
For the Lord’s portion is his people,
Jacob his allotted inheritance.
Hits me like a punch line.
Don’t rush it! But savour every bite, every morsel.
I think of a group hunt… and they divide up the beast… and God is in the group and he says,
“________ is my portion…”
insert your name
yet being among those who he calls his portion is also significant. Our belonging to him is what _ our belonging to one another.
We are members of one another Paul says.
