I’ve been talking about something today. Part of the conversation was about rebuking a dog for well… being a dog.
Can you talk a dog into behaving more civilized?
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Is the Bible a book of wisdom? Is it a collection of great ideas? What do we do with those who might contend that the Bible doesn’t have the market cornered on truth?
What about the ecumenical movement?
To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.
Verse 19 starts: “Though I am free and belong to no one…”
We will one day stand before God, alone? There’ll be no committee!
I was thinking of that scripture today of the pot talking back to the potter!
Take a look at Isaiah 29, Isaiah 45, Isaiah 64, Jeremiah 18, and Romans 9.
There’s the potter, throwing pots (term used for creating pottery on a spinning wheel). And the pot decides he’s had enough! He gets up and forms a gang with all the other pots! They begin to march on God!
God calmly gets up, walks to the open door, we hear a <CLICK> as the door closes, then he flips a switch! The room fills with water, the pots become aqueous!
You can’t get to heaven on good ideas!
The Bible is about Jesus Christ! Genesis to Revelation is about an utterly HOLY God, Exodus 3:5 “…don’t come any closer! And take off those shoes!”
Labels!
A dog is a dog. That dog up there, will be a dog after he gets out of that meditation pose!
You must be born again!
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God John 1:12 NIV
…to them gave he power to become the sons of God KJV
Look at those passages about the pottery again !

He was a psychiatrist. He believed in psychotherapy. He was a psychotherapist!
A life long question of mine is what is the place of psychology and psychiatry in Christianity?
Bonhoeffer talks about that in his book “Life Together”
Hmmm what occurs to me just now is the parable of the wheat and the tares. Matthew 13:24-30
