The Count of Monte Cristo

As part of Gutenberg.org’s collection of books out of copyright, The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favourite books!

I have listened this book many times over, and just love it. I’m not sure exactly where I came across it, or why I decided to read it, but I’m so glad I did. I was all the more thrilled when I investigated the author, Alexander Dumas.

I am in the habit of doing very serious research on the historical subjects about which I write.   Alexander Dumas

I think that it is Alexandre Dumas that made me into an avid fan of Historical Fiction,

In historical fiction, setting is the most important literary element. Because the author is writing about a particular time in history, the information about the time period must be accurate, authentic, or both. To create accurate and authentic settings in their books, authors must research the time period thoroughly.
