Godly Aging

There is something wonderful about the way Scripture speaks of growing old. Not simply as a season of diminishing strength, but as a season in which faithfulness, wisdom, and fruitfulness may continue.

Still Bearing Fruit

“They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green.”

Psalm 92:14 (ESV)

Carried Through the Years

“Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you.”

Isaiah 46:4 (ESV)

Something to Give the Next Generation

“So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.”

Psalm 71:18 (ESV)

The Wisdom of Years

“Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.”

Job 12:12 (ESV)

Remember Your Creator

“Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, ‘I have no pleasure in them’.”

Ecclesiastes 12:1 (ESV)

Growing older is inevitable. Growing in wisdom, faithfulness, and love is something we can continue to pursue.

And perhaps one of the great privileges of growing old is discovering that we still have something to give.
